Clinical Care

Dalhousie Medical School plays a direct and vital role in patient care in the Maritimes. Our outstanding clinical faculty are practising physicians who provide excellent care to thousands of patients each year. They are dedicated to improving their knowledge, skills and practices through ongoing research and medical education, and to training medical students and residents in the delivery of exemplary care, ensuring the best care available for the people of the Maritimes.

Distributed Learning
Maritime Values

Responding to our community’s needs means going beyond our main campus. Our students and residents experience “distributed learning” in over 100 teaching sites, including tertiary and community hospitals, continuing care facilities and rural physician offices throughout the Maritimes. Our innovative approaches to continuing medical education ensure that Maritime physicians from the city to the countryside have easy and convenient access to the information they need to practise at the highest level. Exposing our students to a variety of learning settings offers them a broader educational experience – it also demonstrates to them first-hand why Maritime communities offer an ideal place to live and practise.
